We are two Estonian midwifery students, who had a chance to visit Norway, Bergen. The aim of the visit was to collect data for our final thesis. We were warmly welcomed by Western Norway University of Applied Sciences’ first- and second-year midwifery students, who participated in our data collection interviews. Later on we had an opportunity to visit Haukeland University Hospital, discuss the differences in the field of midwifery between Estonia and Norway and learn about Norwegian midwifery studies.
The opportunity to meet Norwegian students, discuss the differences and debate about what would be the best solutions, gave us a better understanding of the field. Our experience of being exchange students in Norway was quite short, but full of deep conversations, fun times and new connections. We strongly suggest other midwifery students to take upon all offers and chances to take part in student exchange programs, just to find new perspectives, thoughts and practices to take to use in your own home country.
Kind regards, Grete and Kerli
